Client Overview
Ms. Cheung contacted Zavza Seal LLC to enhance the energy efficiency and thermal comfort of her two-story home. The main issues included fluctuating indoor temperatures, leaky windows, and cold metal radiators—all contributing to rising utility costs and uncomfortable drafts.
Project Summary
Zavza Seal developed a comprehensive insulation strategy for the first and second-floor interior walls, excluding the kitchen and certain tile-covered areas. Our goal was to reduce heat loss, block drafts, and upgrade overall home efficiency using environmentally friendly materials.
Scope of Work
1. Interior Wall Air Sealing & Preparation
To prepare for insulation and minimize existing energy leaks, we:
- Air-sealed leaky windows from the interior using professional-grade sealants and caulk.
- Installed R-18 closed-cell polyethylene foam rolls backed with reinforced reflective foil behind three radiators.
- Also applied foil insulation to the basement wood bi-fold door, a known weak spot for heat loss.
2. Blown-In Cellulose Wall Insulation
To insulate the exterior walls (from the interior), we:
- Cut access ports between the wall studs to feed the blower hose.
- Installed eco-friendly cellulose insulation, which is:
- Fire-resistant (Class 1 fire rating)
- Mold and moisture resistant
- A strong sound absorber
This technique maximized R-value while preserving the integrity of the existing wall finishes.
3. Patch & Paint Finishing
Once insulation was installed, the team:
- Taped and patched all access ports.
- Touched up the surface with customer-provided paint, ensuring a seamless, finished appearance.
All work areas were draped with dust curtains, and the homeowner moved furniture 4 feet from the walls before the crew’s arrival.

Outcome
Thanks to Zavza Seal’s meticulous prep, expert insulation methods, and use of low-toxicity, high-performance materials, this home now experiences:
- Significantly improved indoor temperature consistency
- Lower heating bills
- Reduced exterior noise
- A healthier, better-insulated indoor environment
