Case Study: Back Structural Wall Repair and Window Installation in Brooklyn, NY
The back wall of the property which needed structural wall repair and window installation in Brooklyn, NY

The Problem

A homeowner in Brooklyn, NY, contacted Zavza Seal LLC after noticing structural concerns with the back wall of their house. The existing wall featured two windows of uneven size and placement, with a noticeable lack of proper support for the openings. Over time, this not only created aesthetic and functional issues but also posed a risk to the structural integrity of the back wall.

The client wanted a solution that would:

  • Reinforce the structural integrity of the back wall.
  • Align the two windows for a balanced and uniform appearance.
  • Install a properly sized and supported new window opening.

The Solution

Our experienced team at Zavza Seal LLC devised a comprehensive plan to repair the back wall and create a safe, functional, and visually appealing new window opening.

Temporary Shoring and Precise Cutting

We began by providing temporary shoring support to ensure the structural safety of the back wall while we carried out the necessary work. This step was crucial to prevent any settling or damage during construction.

Next, our team carefully executed two precise horizontal cuts:

  • Top cut: Approximately 96 inches across the two windows, aligned with the top of the larger window.
  • Bottom cut: Approximately 96 inches across the two windows, aligned with the bottom of the smaller window.

These cuts defined the section of the wall that would be reconstructed to create the new, properly aligned opening.

Installation of Permanent Support and Framing

After the cuts, we installed a permanent support header, replacing the temporary shoring with a strong, long-lasting support system. This step ensured that the wall could safely bear the structural loads moving forward.

We then reframed the bottom of the larger window to align with the bottom of the smaller window, effectively creating a new, properly sized wall opening measuring approximately 96 inches by 53 inches.

Final Touch: New Window Installation

To complete the project, we installed a brand-new window in the newly created opening, giving the back wall of the home a refreshed, uniform, and structurally sound appearance.

The Result

The homeowner was thrilled with the outcome — a safe, structurally reinforced back wall with a new, properly aligned window opening that enhanced both the functionality and curb appeal of their property.
