The Problem
A homeowner in Merrick, NY, contacted Zavza Seal LLC after experiencing persistent water int rusion in their basement. Heavy rains would cause water to seep in through the walls and floor, leaving behind damp spots and increasing the risk of mold and structural damage. The client also reported visible structural cracks in two areas of the basement walls, which contributed to the water penetration.
The homeowner needed a durable and comprehensive waterproofing solution that would keep the basement dry and protect the foundation from further deterioration.
The Solution
Our team at Zavza Seal LLC designed and executed a complete basement waterproofing and structural crack repair plan to address both the water intrusion and the damaged walls.
Interior Drainage System and Sump Pump Installation
We started by cutting a drain trench along three walls of the basement floor. Inside the trench, we installed gravel and a 4-inch perforated PVC pipe wrapped in filter fabric. This drainage pipe was connected to a sump basin equipped with a 1/2 HP sump pump. The pump ejector pipe was routed over the top of the foundation wall and exited through the siding into a splash block in the garden, ensuring proper water discharge away from the home.
Once the drainage system was in place, we poured and troweled new 3-inch concrete over the drain trench, leveling it with the existing basement floor for a seamless finish.
Structural Crack Repair
Next, we addressed the two structural cracks in the basement walls. Our technicians injected the cracks with a specially formulated combination of epoxy and urethane to waterproof and reinforce them. We then applied one layer of Basecrete waterproofing cement over the cracks, embedded reinforced 4.5oz Basecrete fiberglass mesh, and finished with a second layer of Basecrete cement to ensure a strong, watertight seal.
Waterproofing Membrane Installation
To further protect the basement, we installed a Delta brand high-performance heavy-duty dimpled waterproofing membrane. This membrane features a recycled HDPE inner layer and a virgin high-density polyethylene outer layer, providing superior moisture resistance and durability.

The Result
The homeowner now has a fully waterproofed basement with no signs of water intrusion, even during heavy rain. The structural cracks have been properly sealed, and the basement is protected by a state-of-the-art drainage system and waterproofing membrane.
At Zavza Seal LLC, we take pride in delivering reliable and long-lasting solutions for basement waterproofing in Merrick NY and the surrounding areas.
