Step 1: French Drain Trench Installation
- Our crew cut a trench in the concrete basement floor across the 29 linear feet where water penetration was occurring.
- We installed a 3-inch polyethylene slotted corrugated drainage pipe into the trench, surrounded by gravel and wrapped in filter fabric to ensure long-term drainage and filter performance.
Step 2: Drainage Optimization
- To allow internal wall water to properly flow into the system, we drilled weep holes through the block face. This helps drain block cores and relieves hydrostatic pressure behind the wall.
Step 3: Sump Pump Integration
- The French drain was transitioned into a sump well and sump pump system, installed in the corner of the room near an existing basement window.
- A 1 1/2-inch discharge pipe was installed through the foundation wall to direct water safely outside at grade level.
Step 4: Dimple Drain Mat Installation
- We installed a dimple core drain mat along the block wall, starting 32 inches above the floor and continuing downward into the French drain trench. This enhances water capture from the wall and ensures moisture is directed into the drainage system.
Step 5: Concrete Restoration
- Once all drainage components were installed, we recovered the trench with 4,000 PSI concrete, carefully troweled to match the existing floor and restore a clean, seamless finish.
Step 6: Water Guard Port Installation
- A water guard port was installed to provide easy maintenance access and monitoring of the new drainage system.
