- We began by cutting the existing patio tiles to excavate a trench approximately 18 feet long and 6 inches wide, running from the southern drainage grill in the backyard to the northern grill in the center of the patio.
- The existing drainage pipe was removed and disposed of, clearing the way for the installation of a modern system.
- We excavated a second trench to investigate and locate the connection point between the patio grill and the waste line, ensuring that the new system would tie in properly.
- A new 4-inch PVC drainage pipe was installed to connect two newly installed 6-inch grills, promoting proper water flow from the backyard toward the patio collection point.
- All patio tiles (approx. 120 square feet) were demolished and removed to allow for deeper excavation and base preparation.
- The entire area was excavated to a depth that allowed for a 2-inch bed of gravel, placed at least 5 inches below the interior floor level. This step created a functional grade drop to prevent any water from flowing back into the house.
Result:
