Mr. Katan of Farmingdale, NY contacted Zavza Seal LLC regarding a deteriorating section of his old chimney foundation. Moisture intrusion and seasonal damage had compromised the area, causing visible wear around the clean-out opening. Mr. Katlan needed a lasting repair that would restore the integrity of the chimney base while preventing future water-related damage.

Initial Evaluation

On January 27, 2025, our team conducted a full on-site assessment. The chimney clean-out area showed signs of:

• Structural degradation due to efflorescence and loose material buildup
• Cracks allowing water intrusion
• Surface contamination from paint and other foreign agents

The scope required a multi-step waterproofing and reinforcement approach to ensure long-term durability.

Scope of Work

1. Site Preparation & Surface Cleaning
   
   • Cleared approximately 6 inches of space around the old chimney clean-out
   • Scarified the area to remove paint, efflorescence, and other contaminants
2. Crack Sealing and Structural Reinforcement
   
   • Drilled multiple access ports to inject targeted repairs
   • Injected polyurethane and epoxy into damaged sections to fill and seal gaps
3. Waterproofing Application
   
   • Applied one coat of Basecrete waterproofing cement
   • Installed a layer of 4.5oz fiberglass mesh for reinforcement
   • Finished with a second coat of Basecrete to seal and complete the chimney foundation repair
     

Outcome

This warranty ensures that the labor and materials used in restoring Mr. Katan’s chimney clean-out area will remain defect-free under normal use and maintenance.
