The Problem:

A residential property in Baldwin was experiencing poor indoor comfort and reduced energy efficiency in the first floor living areas. The exterior walls were allowing heat loss in winter and heat gain during warmer months, making it harder for the homeowner to maintain a stable indoor temperature.

In addition to energy loss, the home also had noticeable outside noise entering through the wall cavities, which affected overall comfort inside the house.

Our Inspection and Plan:

The team at Zavza Seal inspected the first floor exterior walls and confirmed that the wall cavities were not properly insulated.

The total affected area was approximately 1,350 square feet. Our solution was to install dense packed cellulose insulation inside the wall cavities to improve thermal performance and overall energy efficiency.

Insulation Installation Process

To properly insulate the walls, we carefully cut small access ports in strategic locations along the first floor exterior walls. These openings allowed us to reach the internal wall cavities without major disruption to the existing structure.

Once access was created, we installed dense packed cellulose insulation into the wall cavities until we achieved an R-value of 16. This ensured consistent coverage and improved insulation performance throughout the entire area.

After the insulation process was completed, all access ports were patched, taped, and compounded to restore the wall surface. (Finishing, sanding, and painting were not included in this scope of work.)
