Project Overview

This project took place in Brooklyn, NY. The homeowner wanted to improve comfort in their home and reduce outside noise. The work covered the first floor walls, about 752 square feet, and the second floor walls, about 690 square feet.

The goal was clear. Make the home quieter, more energy efficient, and more comfortable without major demolition.

The Problem

The home had little insulation inside the walls. This caused two main issues.

First, outside noise was coming in easily. Street sounds and general city noise were noticeable throughout the home.

Second, the home was losing heat in winter and cool air in summer. This made the space less comfortable and increased energy use.

The homeowner wanted a solution that would fix both problems without opening up all the walls or doing a full renovation.

Our Solution

Our team at Zavza Seal used a non-invasive method to insulate the walls.

We carefully cut small access ports in the wall areas. These openings allowed us to reach inside the wall cavities without removing large sections of drywall.

We then installed dense packed cellulose insulation using professional equipment. This method ensured the cavities were fully filled, leaving no gaps. The insulation was installed to achieve an R-value of 21, which helps improve thermal performance.

After installation, we patched and taped all access points to restore the wall surface. Sanding and painting were not part of this project, as discussed with the client.
