Case Study: Whole Home Insulation Upgrade in Queens, NY

Overview

Our team at Zavza Seal completed a full insulation project for a home in Queens, NY. The work included wall insulation, a laundry room ceiling raceway, and a second floor ceiling. The goal was to improve comfort, reduce noise, and help lower energy costs.

The Problem

The homeowner was dealing with uneven temperatures across the home. Some rooms felt too cold, while others held heat. The laundry room ceiling area was also losing energy because the raceway channel was not insulated.

Noise from outside and between floors was another concern. The second floor ceiling did not have proper insulation, which allowed sound to travel easily. On top of that, the home was not as energy efficient as it should be, leading to higher utility bills.

The Solution

We approached this project in a clean and controlled way to improve the entire home.

For the walls, we created small access openings so we could reach inside without removing large sections of drywall. We then installed dense packed cellulose insulation to achieve an R value of 13. Once the work was done, all access points were patched and taped neatly.

In the laundry room, the raceway channel in the ceiling was treated using point bonded non woven netting. This allowed us to safely contain the insulation while we filled the space. We then blew in dense packed cellulose insulation to reach an R value of 30.

For the second floor ceiling, we again used access ports to install cellulose insulation. The material was packed to an R value of 30 to help control both temperature and sound between floors. After installation, all openings were sealed, patched, and taped.

Materials and Benefits

We used high quality cellulose insulation that is safe and effective for residential homes. This material is environmentally friendly and made from recycled content. It is also fire resistant and meets a Class 1 fire rating.

The insulation helps reduce outside noise and improves sound control between rooms. It also offers moisture resistance, which helps protect the structure over time. This product is Gold Certified and supports a healthier indoor environment.

The Result

After the project was completed, the home felt more balanced and comfortable. The temperature stayed more consistent across different rooms and floors. Noise between levels was reduced, and the laundry room area became more energy efficient.

The homeowner can now expect better performance from their heating and cooling system, along with lower energy costs over time.

Note: Sanding and painting were not included in this project, but all work areas were left clean and ready for finishing. The job was completed with minimal disruption to the home.
