Problem
A homeowner in Bohemia, NY noticed visible cracks forming along their foundation walls. Some of these cracks showed signs of separation, which means the concrete had started to pull apart. This is a serious issue because it can weaken the structure and allow water to enter the basement.
Over time, structural cracks can grow larger if not treated properly. They can lead to water leaks, mold growth, and even long term damage to the foundation. The homeowner needed a strong and lasting solution to stop the cracks from spreading and to restore the strength of the wall.
Solution
Our team at Zavza Seal used a proven method to repair the cracks and reinforce the structure.
First, we carefully inspected the cracks to identify areas where there was clear separation or movement. For these structural cracks, we installed hot dip galvanized steel anchors. These anchors connect both sides of the crack, helping to pull the wall back together and prevent further movement.
This step is very important because it restores the wall’s ability to handle pressure and improves its overall strength.
Once the anchors were installed, we applied a coat of Basecrete waterproofing cement over the repaired area. This creates a strong base layer that helps seal the surface.
Next, we installed a 4.5 oz reinforced fiber mesh over the first coat. The mesh adds extra strength and helps prevent future cracking.
Finally, we applied a second coat of Basecrete waterproofing cement to fully seal and protect the wall. This creates a durable, water resistant barrier that helps keep moisture out of the basement.
Result
After the repair was completed, the foundation wall was fully reinforced and protected.
The cracks were stabilized, and the risk of further expansion was greatly reduced. The waterproofing system now helps prevent water from entering the space, keeping the basement dry and safe.
The homeowner now has a stronger foundation and peace of mind knowing the issue was handled the right way.
Ignoring structural cracks can lead to serious problems over time. Fixing them early helps protect the home and avoid costly repairs later.
