Structural Foundation Crack Repair in Maspeth, NY

A structural crack in a basement foundation can allow water to enter the home while also weakening the wall over time. Our team at Zavza Seal recently completed a foundation crack repair project in Maspeth, NY, helping a homeowner stop water intrusion and strengthen their basement wall.

The Problem

The homeowner noticed water entering the basement through a structural crack in the foundation wall. Previous repair attempts had failed, allowing moisture to continue passing through the crack during heavy rain.

The crack not only caused water damage but also raised concerns about the long term strength of the foundation. The homeowner wanted a permanent repair that would waterproof the wall while restoring its structural integrity.

Our Solution

Our team first addressed the problem from the exterior by cleaning and sealing the window well insert to prevent water from entering around the window frame.

Inside the basement, we removed all previous repair materials and used diamond blades to open the entire crack. This exposed clean, solid concrete and allowed us to properly repair the damaged area.

To strengthen the wall, we cut deep slots across the crack every 12 inches. These slots were filled with structural epoxy before installing non corrosive carbon fiber stitches. Each carbon stitch is designed to provide exceptional reinforcement by helping hold the crack together under heavy loads.

Next, we drilled injection ports every six inches along the length of the crack. High strength epoxy and flexible urethane were injected deep into the wall to seal the crack from the inside and prevent future water penetration.

After the injections were complete, we filled the surface with high strength mortar before applying a layer of 7,000 PSI waterproofing cement. While the coating was still wet, we embedded reinforced fiber mesh to increase durability. A second layer of waterproofing cement was then applied over the mesh to create a strong waterproof barrier.

To complete the repair, we installed mesh reinforced Basecrete waterproofing along the cove joint at the bottom of the crack. This added another layer of protection where the wall meets the basement floor, helping prevent future leaks.

The Result:

The basement foundation wall is now structurally reinforced and fully sealed against water intrusion. The combination of carbon fiber stitching, epoxy injection, reinforced waterproof coatings, and cove joint protection provides a long lasting repair that helps protect the home’s foundation for years to come.

The homeowner now has greater confidence knowing the basement is stronger, drier, and better protected against future water damage.
