The Problem

The homeowner first noticed damp spots along one section of the basement wall after periods of heavy rainfall. Over time, water began entering through two vertical structural cracks in the concrete foundation.

Although the cracks were not extremely wide, they extended through the foundation wall, allowing groundwater to pass from the outside into the basement. Simply covering the inside surface with waterproof paint or patching the cracks would not have solved the problem because water would still find its way through the damaged concrete.

After performing a detailed inspection, our team determined that the water intrusion was being caused by approximately 11 linear feet of structural foundation cracks that required both waterproofing and structural repair.

Our Solution

To permanently seal the cracks, we used a professional crack injection system designed for structural concrete foundations.

First, injection ports were carefully installed every six inches along the full length of each crack. These ports allowed us to inject specialized urethane and epoxy materials deep into the foundation wall.

The urethane expanded inside the crack to block water infiltration, while the epoxy restored strength by bonding the concrete together. This combination created a durable repair that addressed both the leak and the structural integrity of the wall.

Once the injections were complete, we applied reinforced mesh with 6,000 PSI waterproofing cement over the repaired cracks. This created an additional protective layer and helped provide a smooth, durable finish.

To stop water before it could reach the repaired areas, our team also excavated the exterior side of the foundation approximately 12 inches below grade directly above each crack. We then applied reinforced mesh with 6,000 PSI waterproofing cement on the outside of the foundation wall, creating another barrier against future water intrusion.

By repairing both the interior and exterior of the foundation, we addressed the source of the problem instead of simply covering the visible symptoms.

The Result

After the repairs were completed, the foundation cracks were fully sealed, and the basement was protected against future water intrusion through those damaged areas.

The homeowner now has greater confidence that heavy rainfall will no longer allow groundwater to enter through the repaired foundation wall. Just as importantly, the structural cracks were reinforced, helping restore the integrity of the foundation while protecting the basement from ongoing moisture damage.
