Case Study: Storm Channel Installation at Entrance and Garage Doors in Flushing, NY
14-foot storm channel installed along the entrance and garage doors of a Flushing NY property.

The Problem:

A property in Flushing, NY had a drainage concern near the entrance door and garage door. Water collecting in this area can reach the door openings and create a risk of water entering the property.

Zavza Seal was brought in to install a storm channel to collect surface water and direct it to the existing sewer line.

The Solution:

Our team installed an approximately 14-foot storm channel along the entrance and garage door area. The work was designed to collect water before it could reach the building and move it into the sewer system.

Trenching and Preparation

We first cut and excavated a trench along the work area to create enough space for the storm channel and drainage connections.

The trench was excavated deep enough to reach the existing sewer line.

Drainage Connection

We installed the required pipes and fittings to prepare the drainage system for connection to the sewer line.

Once the sewer line was exposed, we connected the new drainage plumbing and completed the connection between the storm channel and sewer pipe.

Storm Channel Installation

The approximately 14-foot storm channel was placed and secured in the prepared trench. We completed the plumbing connection between the channel and sewer line to provide a path for collected water to drain away from the property.

Concrete Finish

After securing the channel, we placed protective tape over the grate to keep it clean during the concrete work.

We then finished the area with high-strength concrete around the storm channel. After allowing the concrete to cure, we removed the protective tape and completed the installation.

The Result:

The Flushing property now has a dedicated storm channel along the entrance and garage doors.

The new drainage system is designed to collect surface water and direct it into the sewer line, helping reduce water buildup around the door openings.

Proper drainage around entrances and garage doors is an important part of protecting a property from water intrusion. A storm channel can provide a controlled path for surface water instead of allowing it to collect against the building.
