Case Study: Basement Foundation Waterproofing in Selden, NY
Exterior basement foundation waterproofing in Selden NY with drainage system

The Problem:

A homeowner in Selden, NY needed waterproofing work along approximately 13 linear feet of basement foundation wall.

The foundation wall needed to be exposed so the surface could be inspected, cleaned, and repaired before a new waterproofing system was installed.

Because water pressure can build up against a foundation wall, the repair also needed a way to help relieve pressure around the footing.

The Solution:

Zavza Seal used an exterior waterproofing approach to protect the affected section of the basement foundation.

Our team first excavated along the foundation wall down to the side of the footing. Once exposed, we cleaned the wall and repaired surface defects as needed.

We then applied a liquid membrane waterproofing system across the entire exposed foundation wall.

To help manage water and pressure around the footing, we installed a gravel drainage bed with perforated pipe and filter fabric alongside the foundation.

A protection mat was then placed over the waterproofing membrane to help protect it during backfilling.

After the waterproofing and drainage work was completed, the excavation was backfilled and the area was returned to its original grade.

The Result:

The approximately 13-foot section of basement foundation received a complete exterior waterproofing treatment along with a drainage system at the footing.

The new waterproofing membrane helps protect the foundation wall from exterior moisture, while the perforated pipe and gravel bed provide a path for water to move away from the foundation.

This approach addressed both the foundation wall and the surrounding drainage conditions rather than simply treating the interior symptoms of water intrusion.

A Complete Exterior Foundation Waterproofing Approach

Exterior foundation waterproofing can be useful when moisture is entering through or around a foundation wall. By exposing the wall, repairing surface defects, applying waterproofing, and improving drainage near the footing, the repair addresses the foundation from the outside.

For homes in Selden, Long Island, and surrounding areas, Zavza Seal provides foundation waterproofing, basement waterproofing, foundation crack repair, and drainage solutions.

Site Preparation Note

The homeowner was responsible for removing the existing fence before work began. Fence reinstallation was also the homeowner’s responsibility after completion.
