Problem: The existing insulation was old and significantly deteriorated. It was moldy and dirty, with evidence of pest infestation and mouse droppings. As cold poor-quality air was traveling down from the attic through unsealed surfaces into the interior living space of the house, the overall air quality of the entire living space was compromised, causing allergic reactions and musty smells. In addition to these health concerns, the customer also complained about high energy costs.
Solution: We removed and disposed of the old insulation and cleaned and vacuumed the attic. We then sprayed all exposed surfaces with an all-natural disinfectant that eliminates mold and mildew and repels rodents. Then we blew in cellulose insulation to cover the entire subject area to achieve a value of R40.
Our disinfectant spray is highly effective against viruses and bacteria, has the lowest EPA toxicity rating, and is non-flammable, non-irritable, and odorless.
