Problem:
A homeowner in Amity Harbor was dealing with high energy bills and uneven temperatures inside the home. During winter, the house felt cold even with the heat running. In summer, the upper floors became too hot. The attic had old and poorly installed insulation that was no longer effective.
There were visible gaps, thin insulation coverage, and areas where air could easily pass through. The existing insulation was not dense enough to stop heat loss. Some sections were exposed and others had settled over time, leaving parts of the attic unprotected. There was also a risk of insulation shifting into the attic access area, which could create a mess and reduce performance.
The homeowner wanted a solution that would improve comfort, lower energy costs, and make the home more efficient without causing disruption.
Solution:
The team at Zavza Seal designed a complete attic insulation upgrade focused on performance and long-term efficiency. The goal was to seal all air gaps and install high-quality insulation that would stay in place and perform consistently.
We started by installing dense pack cellulose insulation underneath the plywood areas. This method increases the effectiveness of the insulation by making it much tighter and more compact. Dense packing helps block airflow and improves thermal performance, making the insulation up to three times more effective compared to loose fill.
Next, we added blown-in insulation over all exposed existing insulation. This step created a thicker and more even layer across the attic floor. It helps prevent heat from escaping in winter and keeps hot air out during summer.
To solve the issue of insulation movement, we used a special method to block the material from entering the attic catwalk and falling through the attic access door. This ensures the insulation stays in place and continues to perform without creating maintenance problems.
We also sealed and insulated all gaps, holes, and recessed lighting areas. These small openings are often the main source of energy loss. By sealing them properly, we reduced unwanted airflow and improved overall efficiency.
The insulation material used in this project is environmentally friendly and safe for the home. It is fire-resistant and meets Class 1 fire rating standards. It also helps reduce outside noise and provides strong moisture resistance. This creates a more comfortable and healthier indoor environment for the homeowner.
Result:
After the project was completed, the home became much more comfortable throughout the year. The temperature remained consistent across all floors, and the HVAC system did not have to work as hard. This helped lower energy usage and reduce utility bills.
The attic is now fully sealed and insulated, which protects the home from heat loss, moisture issues, and outside noise. The homeowner now has a more energy-efficient home and better indoor comfort.
This project shows how proper attic insulation can make a big difference in both comfort and cost savings. With the right materials and installation, Zavza Seal delivered a clean and long-lasting solution.
