Initial Inspection
On April 17, 2025, our senior estimator performed a walkthrough of the basement located at 568 Monroe St, Brooklyn, NY. The inspection uncovered extensive hidden debris and mold conditions caused by prior poor-quality framing work and moisture exposure.
Key Findings:
- Framing was installed over piles of debris
- All framing studs and plates were rusted or mold-embedded
- Wood flooring had suffered irreversible water damage
- Vanity was mold-contaminated and beyond salvage
Scope of Work
A. Hidden Debris Behind Framing
Our team proposed to fully remove and dispose of all construction debris hidden behind the drywall. This step was critical to prevent any future moisture or pest-related issues.
B. Moldy & Rusted Framing
Nearly 100% of the framing studs and plates showed rust and embedded mold. We removed and safely disposed of all affected framing materials using proper containment and PPE protocols to minimize airborne mold spores.
C. Water-Damaged Wood Flooring
The basement’s wood floor was damaged beyond repair, with signs of warping, buckling, and saturation. We carefully removed and disposed of the entire flooring system, clearing the area for future renovations.
D. Mold-Contaminated Vanity
The bathroom vanity was directly attached to the wall and infected with mold. We:
- Disconnected all plumbing
- Cut, removed, and safely disposed of the vanity
- Cleared the surrounding wall for inspection and treatment
