Problem:
The homeowner in Far Rockaway was experiencing significant ponding water at the foot of the driveway, directly in front of the garage. During heavy rains, water would pool and flow toward the garage door, creating a risk of water intrusion into the garage and potential foundation damage. The lack of proper drainage meant that water had nowhere to escape, making a long-term solution necessary.
Solution:

We installed a channel drain spanning the full width of the garage door to capture and redirect water. To integrate the drainage system, we cut through the existing concrete curb and concrete floor on the interior, then transitioned a drain pipe from the new trench drain to the existing sewer waste line.
Once the trench drain and piping were completed, we poured new concrete flush with the surrounding floor, including a newly formed curb section for added protection. Finally, we installed a galvanized steel grating over the trench drain to provide durability and allow for smooth water flow.

This Far Rockaway project successfully eliminated the recurring ponding issue and prevented potential water intrusion into the garage. The upgraded drainage system now efficiently directs rainwater away from the property, protecting both the garage and the home’s foundation.
