East Facade Wall – Multiple Brick Columns (Columns 26 through 30)
Scope of Work:
Brick Façade Demolition, Reconstruction, and Aesthetic Matching
The Problem
A commercial property in Farmingdale, NY presented visible signs of structural degradation across several columns of its east-facing brick façade. Specifically, five vertical brick columns (from the 26th to the 30th column from the south side) showed varying degrees of damage, including cracked, loose, and deteriorating brickwork.
This type of brick failure not only compromises structural stability but also creates water intrusion risks, insulation issues, and curb appeal deterioration. The property owner reached out to Zavza Seal for a professional brick façade restoration that could secure the structure while preserving the aesthetic character of the original design.
Our Solution
Zavza Seal deployed an experienced masonry restoration team to perform a multi-column façade rebuild, ensuring stability, longevity, and architectural consistency. Each section was carefully evaluated and reconstructed using quality brick masonry techniques.
Column-by-Column Restoration Plan
26th Brick Column – Approx. 15′ x 32”
- We removed and disposed of the entire brick façade of this column due to extensive deterioration.
- A new brick façade was installed, securely fastened to the underlying substrate.
- We made a good faith effort to match the new bricks to the original façade for seamless integration.
27th Brick Column – Top 6’ x 6’
- We removed and disposed of the top six feet of damaged brick.
- A new brick section was installed with secure anchoring to the substrate.
- We aimed to match the brick style and color to ensure visual continuity.
28th Brick Column – Top 6’ x 32”
- We removed the top portion of the façade to address localized degradation.
- Our team installed a reconstructed top section that was structurally reinforced and aesthetically matched.
29th Brick Column – Top 6’ x 5’
- Similar to adjacent columns, we removed the top portion that had become structurally unsound.
- New bricks were installed with proper anchoring techniques to restore strength and appearance.
30th Brick Column – Top 6’ x 32” (Including Wraparound to Rear Wall)
- This column had deterioration that extended to the back of the building.
- We removed and replaced the top brick façade, carefully wrapping around the rear corner to maintain design flow.
