Town/Neighborhood: Wantagh
Borough/County: Nassau County
Construction Type: Residential
Category: Foundation Repair, Foundation Wall Restoration
Problem:
During a water test, we observed water penetrating through weak sections of the foundation, particularly above the cold joints. This infiltration was causing structural vulnerability and water damage. The homeowner needed both foundation stabilization and long-term waterproofing to protect the home.
Solution:
Work Area A: Structural Repair and Waterproofing of Damaged Wall
We removed the sheetrock in the affected area down to grade level, extending further if necessary. With the wall fully exposed, we conducted another water test to locate all points of intrusion. Using diamond blades, we ground the surface to remove paint, mildew, efflorescence, and other foreign materials. We then applied hydraulic cement and 5,500 PSI high-strength grout where required.
Once the foundation surface was prepared, we applied Intercept, a deeply penetrating concrete densifier, to fill internal voids and form a dense waterproof barrier. We allowed Intercept to cure for one full day before applying the first coat of 7,000 PSI waterproofing cement, followed by 4.5oz mesh-reinforced fibermesh, and then a second coat of 7,000 PSI waterproofing cement. This method enhanced both the strength and durability of the wall, allowing us to provide a 30-year warranty.
Work Area B: Foundation Underpinning and Structural Stability
We demolished and disposed of any compromised sections of the foundation walls in phases, ensuring proper shoring to prevent vertical collapse of the structure. We installed new 24” deep x 18” wide reinforced footings, then built a new waterproof cinder block foundation wall on top.
Around the remaining perimeter, we excavated to allow concrete formwork, tamped the soil, installed #5 rebar piles driven 5’ into the soil, and placed continuous horizontal reinforcement. The new 24” x 18” reinforced concrete footing was poured with 4,000 PSI concrete in staggered sections to protect the house’s structural integrity.
Once waterproofing was completed and cured for 2 days, we performed an extensive water test to confirm complete sealing. New sheetrock was installed, taped, and compounded to restore the finished space.

Conclusion
This Wantagh, NY foundation repair and waterproofing project not only addressed active water intrusion but also reinforced the structural integrity of the home. Our combination of high-strength materials, advanced waterproofing technology, and precise construction methods ensured long-term protection with a 30-year warranty.
