Town/Neighborhood: Hauppauge
Borough/County: Suffolk County
Construction Type: Residential
Category: Foundation Repair, Foundation Wall Restoration
Problem:
A homeowner in Hauppauge discovered a structural crack at the corner of their basement window. This crack ran through both above-grade and sub-grade sections of the wall, allowing water infiltration and compromising the structural stability of the foundation. Immediate repair was necessary to prevent worsening damage and potential foundation movement.
Solution:
Work Area A: Structural Crack at Basement Window Corner
We began by removing the sheetrock on the interior wall approximately two joists wide (32 inches) to expose the affected foundation wall. Every six inches vertically along the sub-grade section of the crack, we drilled and injected high-strength epoxy resin to both waterproof and stabilize the area.
We then applied Basecrete mesh-reinforced waterproof cement over the repaired crack, covering the sub-grade and above-grade portions on both the interior and exterior sections of the wall. This ensured a continuous waterproof seal. Once the foundation repair was complete, we replaced the sheetrock, taped, and grouted all seams to restore the wall to its finished appearance.
Conclusion and Call to Action:
This Hauppauge project not only repaired a significant structural crack but also restored the integrity and waterproofing of the basement foundation wall. Our combination of epoxy injection and Basecrete application provided long-term durability against water intrusion and structural stress.
