Step 1: Jobsite Preparation and Protection
Before work began, our team carefully prepared the work areas.
Protective coverings were installed over floors, furniture, and nearby surfaces. Dust containment measures were used to help keep the home clean throughout the project.
Step 2: Strategic Wall Access
To access the empty wall cavities, we created small 4-inch access openings in carefully selected locations near the top of the walls, typically beneath existing molding whenever possible.
This approach allowed us to reach the wall cavities while minimizing the amount of wall repair required after installation.
Step 3: Dense Pack Cellulose Insulation Installation
Using specialized equipment, our team filled the wall cavities with environmentally friendly dense pack cellulose insulation.
The insulation was installed to achieve an approximate R-value of 12, helping improve the thermal performance of the exterior walls.
The areas insulated included:
Ground Floor Exterior Walls
- Full wall adjacent to the staircase
- Exterior walls beyond the garden atrium
- Two corner exterior walls
Second Floor Bedroom Walls
- Exterior window walls
- One side exterior wall in each bedroom
The dense pack installation process ensured the wall cavities were filled thoroughly, helping reduce air movement and improve overall energy efficiency.
Step 4: Wall Restoration
After the insulation was installed, all access openings were professionally patched, taped, and compounded.
Once completed, the walls were restored and prepared for optional sanding and painting.
