Case Study: Second Floor Bathroom Wall Insulation Case Study in Great Neck, NY

Project Overview

Our team at Zavza Seal completed a wall insulation project in Great Neck, NY. The work focused on a second floor bathroom wall that was losing heat and letting in outside noise. The goal was to improve comfort, reduce energy loss, and make the home more efficient.

The Problem

The homeowner noticed that the bathroom felt cold in winter and warmer than usual in summer. There was also some outside noise coming through the wall.

This usually means the wall is not properly insulated or has gaps inside. Over time, poor insulation can increase energy bills and make the home less comfortable.

Since the wall was on the second floor, the issue needed a careful approach to fix it from the outside without damaging the inside of the home.

The Solution

We planned a clean and efficient way to insulate the wall from the exterior.

First, we set up safe access to the work area. Our team worked from the first floor extension roof and used scaffolding from the ground on one side. This allowed us to reach the full wall safely.

Next, we removed siding panels from three sides of the exterior wall. This exposed the plywood underneath so we could access the wall cavity.

We then created small access points and installed dense packed cellulose insulation inside the wall. This method fills all gaps and provides a high R value, which helps control temperature and improve energy efficiency.

Once the insulation was complete, we sealed the openings, applied wood putty, and carefully reinstalled the siding panels so the exterior looked clean and finished.

The Result

After the project, the bathroom became more comfortable throughout the year. The wall now holds heat better in winter and keeps excess heat out in summer.

The homeowner also noticed a reduction in outside noise. The space feels quieter and more private.

This upgrade will also help lower energy costs over time by reducing heat loss.

Why This Matters

Good insulation plays a big role in how a home feels and performs. It helps control temperature, reduce noise, and protect against moisture.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, proper insulation can significantly improve home energy efficiency and comfort.

About the Insulation We Use

We use environmentally friendly cellulose insulation that is safe and effective. It is fire resistant and meets Class 1 fire rating standards.

It also helps reduce outside noise, resists moisture, and improves indoor air quality. This insulation is Gold Certified and supports a healthier home environment.
