Project Background

In Rocky Point, New York, USA | Suffolk County, NY, USA, a homeowner contacted us after noticing a visible crack forming below a spandrel beam in the foundation wall. The crack was about 5 feet long and showed signs that the wall was slowly starting to separate. There were also early signs that water could start entering through this area.

Because this section supports structural load, it needed to be repaired quickly to prevent further movement or damage.

What We Found

After inspection, we confirmed that the crack was not just surface-level. The foundation wall was beginning to weaken along the line of the crack. There was also a risk that moisture from outside could travel through the opening and worsen the damage over time.

What We Did

We started by cleaning out the entire crack so there was no loose material left behind. This helped prepare the surface for a strong and lasting repair.

Next, we filled the crack completely with high-strength mortar to restore stability in the damaged area.

To stop the wall from separating further, we installed carbon fiber stitches every 12 inches along the crack. This helped lock both sides of the wall together and added extra strength.

After that, we injected epoxy urethane deep into the crack. This sealed any hidden gaps inside the wall and also helped waterproof the area from within.

Once the structural repair was complete, we applied two coats of Basecrete waterproofing cement. We also embedded fiberglass mesh into the coating to make the surface stronger and more resistant to future cracking or water intrusion.

To fully protect the area, we removed a few rows of the porch from the exterior so we could seal any possible entry points where water might have been getting in above the spandrel beam.

Final Result

The crack was fully stabilized and sealed. The foundation wall is no longer moving, and the risk of further separation has been stopped. The waterproofing system also protects the area from future moisture problems.

In the end, the structure is now stronger, more stable, and properly sealed against water intrusion.
