Overview
Our team at Zavza Seal recently completed a wall insulation project in Queens, NY. The work covered two walls with a total area of about 190 square feet. The goal was simple. Make the home more comfortable, reduce outside noise, and improve energy efficiency.
The Problem
The homeowner reached out because the rooms did not feel comfortable throughout the year. In the winter, the space felt cold. In the summer, it got too warm. Energy bills were also higher than expected, which is a common sign that insulation is not doing its job.
Another issue was outside noise. Sounds from traffic and nearby activity were easily coming through the walls. After a quick inspection, it was clear that the wall cavities either had very little insulation or none at all. This allowed heat to escape and noise to travel inside the home.
The Solution
We started by creating small access points in the walls. This allowed us to reach inside the wall cavities without opening up large sections of drywall. Before drilling, we used an X-ray scanning device to locate any electrical wiring. This step is very important because it helps us avoid damage and keeps the work safe.
Once everything was mapped out, we installed dense packed cellulose insulation using a professional blowing machine. The material was tightly packed to reach an R-value of 21, which helps slow down heat transfer and improves overall energy performance.
After the insulation was installed, we carefully sealed all the access points. We patched and taped the holes so the walls were left clean and ready for the next step if the homeowner decides to sand and paint.
Materials and Benefits
The insulation we used is environmentally friendly and made from recycled materials. It is also fire resistant and meets a Class 1 fire rating. Beyond safety, it helps reduce outside noise and improves indoor comfort. It also offers moisture resistance, which helps protect the walls over time.
This insulation is Gold Certified, which means it supports a healthier indoor environment. It is a great option for homeowners who want both performance and peace of mind.
The Result
After the job was complete, the difference was noticeable. The home felt more stable in temperature, and outside noise was reduced. The homeowner now has a more comfortable living space and can expect better energy efficiency moving forward.
Important Notes
Sanding and painting were not included in this project, but the walls were fully prepped for it. All electrical areas were safely avoided during the process, and the work was completed with minimal disruption to the home.
Why This Matters
Wall insulation plays a big role in how a home feels and performs. When done right, it helps lower energy costs and improves comfort in every season.
